The Postal Officers’ Association (India) is a recognized Association under the Recognition of Service Association Rules, 1993 and approved by the Department of Posts under the Ministry of Communications & I.T., Govt. of India.
This Association represents the officers in Postal Service Group ‘B’ and Group ‘A’ (Promotion Line) officers in Indian Postal Service holding the administrative control and supervision over the Postal and Railway Mail Service Divisions (Total 511 Divisions) which are the basic administrative hubs covering 602 Revenue districts for management of the Postal Services in all the urban, rural, hilly and tribal areas across the country. These officers are inducted in the referred services by dint of their merit in the competitive examination as well as their experience in management of field organizations in the Department of Posts.
These officers play an important role in actual implementation and monitoring of the Govt. policies and schemes in the urban as well as rural areas.
The cadre strength of Postal Service Group ‘B’ is 866 and in addition they hold 181 posts in Indian Postal Service Group ‘A’. We are in fact the Divisional Managers (well comparable with such positions in any Public Sector Enterprise) positioned in the field units committed to achieve the objectives of the Department of Posts.
